My name is Kimberly a. Rainville.
I believe I have always crafted some sort of art all of my life. With the exception of hiding in the art room through highschool and a few weekend courses, I am a self taught artist. I have worked in many mediums from oil to acrylic, wood to canvas, brushes to hammer, sewing machine to paper mache.
My artist mantra is…
Recycle… Inspire… Simplify… Exaggerate
Recycle…
My granddaughter and I have been known to ask for lumber off-cuts at construction sites. I create art from canvas tents, old lumber, wool sweaters and blankets.
Inspire…
I am inspired by the artwork of Maude, Adam Young, Cecel Allee, young children and Mother Nature herself. I love being in and painting nature.
I add a little quote on my artwork so as to inspire others.
Simplify…
I love to give my art a quirky whimsical feeling, sometimes drawing with my nondominant hand to achieve the look.
Exaggerate…
Birds can be as big as a house. Flowers can be the size of a bike … it’s fun, off-kilter and happy
Old wood is sanded, filled, sanded again, primed, a design is planned, 2-4 more coats of colors, a final sand, a protective layer of wax, a quote applied, a rustic recycled lathe frame nailed in place and my art is finished.
In the end my objective is to make you smile.
I sell my art at the North Bay Summer Farmers Market, local garden center and in art Galleries in Sudbury, North Carolina and Ohio.
